When it comes to home renovations, never overlook your garage. Revamping this space can help reflect your style preferences and habits. It can be hard to know where to start when giving your garage a makeover. But we're here to help - here are a few projects to consider to give your garage a new look:

1. Replace the garage door

Does the door on your garage reflect the style within your home? If not, you might want to think about replacing your current one for a door that's more on-trend. For instance, if you have a contemporary home, why settle for a retro garage door? The look of your garage is integral to the overall style of your home's exterior. You can blend the door with the rest of your home by painting it a similar color as your dwelling's exterior. You can also add decorative trim to your garage door to contribute some dimension and visual interest. However, if the door looks particularly old, you may want to consider replacing it entirely.

2. Paint the walls

Give new life and a new look to the interior of your garage by painting the walls with a fresh color. Before you start painting, however, you'll want to think about what color you want to use on the walls. A dark color may be appealing, but since this room likely doesn't receive a lot of natural light, so a subtle neutral or light hue may be your best option. With that being said, colors such as white and yellow tend to show a lot of dirt, and you don't want to have to clean your garage every weekend. Instead, opt for a color that will help disguise imperfections, like a trendy gray.

If you would rather have a decorative pattern in your garage, you can consider dressing up the walls with some removable wallpaper. The same rules apply for this wall covering as they do for paint. Stay away from whites and dark colors.

3. Figure out storage solutions

One of the easiest ways to give your garage a facelift is to clean it out and reorganize everything in it. This may mean coming up with new and creative ways to store everything from garden tools to sporting equipment and bicycles. Figure out a garage storage system that works for you and your lifestyle. Take advantage of wall space by hanging wall cabinets, hooks or shelves, and use clear bins to keep thing out of sight, but easy to find when you need them.
