4 unique uses for your garage

The garage is traditionally used to store your vehicles and organize anything from sporting equipment to garden tools. However, that doesn't mean that this space in your home has to be used for that purpose. You can transform your garage into a number of different rooms to better fit your lifestyle:

1. Craft room

If you love to craft, you probably need a space to keep all of your crafting materials. Wall mount shelves and organization bins are perfect for maintaining a clean and de-cluttered space. Consider color coordinating your craft room storage to make it easy to find certain tools when you need them. Create zones throughout your garage-turned-craft room for the most functionality. One area could be for sewing, while another can be designated for cutting or gluing.

2. Home gym

If you don't want to join a gym but don't have the space in your home for your own workout space, you can easily create an exercise room in your garage. The garage offers a cool space for you to work out, and little needs to be done to the room to complete the transformation. Use stackable containers to store gym equipment like hand weights and rubber bands. Fill your garage with the equipment you use most, whether it's a treadmill, an elliptical or weight machines. Put only what you use into your home gym, otherwise it just takes up space. You may want to consider installing a ceiling fan to keep the space nice and ventilated during your workouts. Think about entertainment as well - place a TV on the wall or introduce a sound system into your garage to pump up your workouts.

3. Office

Turn your garage into a productive and stylish home office. Swap your garage doors for spacious sliding glass doors. These will let in plenty of light and help the space appear even larger than it is. Warm up the ground by placing an area rug underneath your desk. You may want to think about installing extra lighting to make it easy to get your work done.

4. Music studio

If you live with other people, finding the time and the space to play your music can be tricky. But with a garage, you have a secluded area that you can use to work on your music. Consider adding soundproofing materials, like panels, to the walls to prevent loud noises from escaping the space. Decorate the walls with musical inspiration, like posters or records.
